Three songs for a jury
Why this recording exists
In 2009 Anthony applied to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. For the audition he had to record three songs and play two live for the faculty. Nova was one of the three.
His brother played everything on it that isn't drums, and ran the recording rig in his room. They recorded it at their parents' house. The kit was in the attic, and an XLR snake ran down the stairs from there to the computer. They planned to release one of the songs on iTunes.
Anthony got the invitation: a place at the conservatorium. Some time later the computer crashed, and with it went every track, every take and every mix, except one export. This is the only copy of Nova that exists.
So it comes out the way it was, as a demo, and as the first thing on Fuzzy Ears: FE001. Not because it is finished, but because it is where this started.
Now Anthony and his brother are recording it again, properly this time, with people he has met on the road since. When that version is ready, you hear it here first.
